I am a filmmaker working in digital film production to generate long and short form documentaries that are character-driven and singular, and yet representative of the larger political contexts that shape people’s choices and ultimately their opportunities. I am drawn to stories of positive opposition where individuals envision and create healthier and more expansive ways of being, apart from the false choices presented by broken or oppressive systems.

 

Over the past 15 years, I have produced and distributed work to public broadcasting, film festivals, advocacy organizations, educational institutions, and museums.  My films are recorded on location where I embed in communities to build close relationships with documentary participants.  My ethic is to collaborate on stories rather than to extract them, honoring the perspective of the subjects and communities from which they come.  My goal is to amplify perspectives often absent from popular media.
